I know I shouldn’t let small things like this bother me, but... when you’re driving behind someone doing 25 in a 40 or if someone takes 7 years to make a turn.... those people piss me off! I’ve been trying to be more patient though. What if they’re having a bad day? Or are on their way home but don’t want to go home to face the inevitable... so they try to delay it. Maybe that person is in an abusive relationship. The point is, you don’t know what’s going on in other people’s heads. Maybe try to be more of a patient and understanding person.

There’s a YMCA on my way home and people always take their time to turn in which means those people are dreading going to the gym and I have no patience for them.

Oh look one of those E-class/Outback hybrids. Saw a few of them in Germany a couple months ago.

I’m patient, I just ask people nicely to get things going by a friendly blast of the horn. In my area, I don’t think it is bad day/personal problems, it is general distraction and incompetence.

o shit that happened to me yesterday. 28 in a 45. I was up their ass and out the tailpipe. I would have passed (dashed yellow so legal) but there were a bunch of other assholes coming in the other direction. I finally got to an area where it split into 2 lanes and held second so they would be aware I was passing with anger.

i usually cruise around slow when i have stuff in the bed of the truck. usually welding gas tanks, or gas cans, or important engine parts. stuff that i dont want to get mangled. that, and the last daily driver i had, would break traction at any opportunity, it got, so i had to drive cautiously to keep from running over other people......

I think we coukd all benefit from a little more patience. Sure, it’s one thing if you’re stuck behind a slowpoke on the Blue Ridge Parkway or something, but we all tend to act like getting stuck behind someone going 5mph under the speed limit is torture.

If you’re running late, then you probably didn’t leave early enough to begin with. And I’m guilty of this too.

agree - we have issues with 4 way stops up here, full on “you go, no you go, no you go, no you go” sh!t. I don’t wait for the two morons to make up their mind and just go in front of them - take as long as you like, but I’m not waiting for you to figure out what the heck you are doing...

I don’t know why I do this, but I get annoyed if I don’t get to a place on time. If I have to be at work at 9AM, I’ll be pissed if I don’t get there before 9.

I’ve been trying to improve myself so that post was a bit of a self reminder as well as a message to everyone

Had an opportunity to experiment with patience this afternoon.

Kinja'd!!!

Coming up to the only stop sign at a T-intersection, I (blue box) encountered a car (red box) that had stopped directly in my path, presumably checking a map or making a phone call/text. I saw it sitting there from about a quarter-mile away as I crested the nearby hill, and even as I approached, it showed no signs of movement. So I waited. And waited.

I was in the car’s blind spot, and gave the driver the benefit of the doubt. Surely they were keeping an eye out, ready to move their car at a moment’s notice, right? Besides, state law technically prohibits me from using my horn unless there is an immediate emergency, so as part of my experiment, I decided to play along with following that law too.

I just sat there and sat there. I want to say that I was probably there for a couple of minutes, but you know how impatience skews one’s perception of time, especially on the road. So it might have been closer to 30 seconds. Who knows.

I finally gave up when another car approached from behind me. It was their turn to wait for this idiot to move. He clearly wasn’t paying attention, and wasn’t going to respond to high beam flashing either. So after ensuring that cross-traffic was clear, I gunned it around him, hoping to simultaneously kick up some of the loose gravel and generate a loud enough exhaust tone to wake them up.

I don’t know if it worked. As I drove away, the car didn’t seem to move at all in my mirrors. In retrospect, I probably should have gotten out of my car to confront them see if the driver was conscious.

We have a disease spreading around here. The symptoms are excessive courteousness such that people stop following the rules. I was getting ready to turn left at a light the other day, and the person opposite me turning right stopped and waited for me to turn. I tried to wait for him because, you know, he has right of way, but he wouldn’t turn before me. I was left in the middle of the intersection with my fly open and time running out. I had no choice but to go. The person was likely trying to be both nice to me and cautious because we are known for epic crashes around here, but dammit, if everyone would just follow the rules, wouldn’t we all be safer?

It’s amazing how much less stressful your commute can be just by leaving ten minutes earlier. It’s something that I try to do.

You can’t always leave early enough to deal with a big accident or detour, but if the only way you can make it in time is if you get every green light and drive as fast as possible, you didn’t leave early enough.

I commend you for trying.

Sometimes the person being slow is being slow for the sheer fact they’re trying to let someone out.

There’s a difference between nice/safe slow and “please just move out of the way...” slow.

25 in a 40 is beyond something angry. That’s like tractor on the highway territory. I get mad at people only going 45 in a 40 much less under it. Honestly though I don’t actually get mad at people just going slow. I only get furious when people go fast on straight roads and then super slow any time there is a turn

the driver is now dead and you could’ve saved him. do you want to live with that guilt?

or the driver was just so focused on their phone they forgot everything else around him.

How about the guy that put on his right turn signal at the red light, inched out, and then turned left as if to say, “nothing to see here, just a normal right turn on red.” Guess he thought he’d camouflaged his intentions well enough.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, but thought there were some slow parts early on. You should know me well enough by now to realize I especially enjoyed the 2nd part of the game... when it gets you know...
